Hemmati Homayoun is professor of comparative religion and mysticism at Tehran University. He got his BA and MA in Islamic philosophy and theology from Tehran University and his Ph.D in the field of comparative religion and mysticism. He has been engaging in teaching graduate and post graduate courses for more than 25 years inside and outside the country. He has participated in more than 50 international conferences, seminars and symposiums. He is well acquainted with English, Arabic,
German and some other languages. He has published more than 200 academic papers and about 100 presentations and interviews. His field of research is contemporary theology, western and Islamic philosophy, comparative religion and comparative mysticism. He has been active also in the area of inter-religious dialogue and dialogue of civilizations, and has received about 40 awards and acknowledgements.
